Ross Romeo is a Toronto based language professional with over a decade of experience in translation and teaching.
He grew up in a bilingual English and Spanish household and he lived in several countries from a very young age. He was born in England and he spent the first few years of his life in British Columbia, Canada. At the age of four he moved to Spain with his family, often spending summers in England.
His first professional contact with languages was during adolescence, at times lending a hand to his mother, a professional translator. Since then he has always had a passion for languages.
As an adult he has lived in the UK, Spain and Canada, and travelled extensively throughout Europe, North Africa, and both North America and Latin America.
Apart from Spanish and English he is also Fluent in Brazilian Portuguese and has studied several other languages to different levels.
He has been translating professionally, and teaching both English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish as a Second Language, Español como Lengua Extranjera (ELE), for over a decade.
In 2014 he took the course Life as a Translator offered at University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies, and in 2015 he completed a certificate program, also at UofT, to obtain a Certificate of Translation into Spanish.
As a professional translator he strives to translate not only the words, but the deeper meaning of a text.
